How to Save on Auto Insurance with a Teen Driver
Reading Time:
Life gets a little more stressful when your teen starts driving, not to mention more expensive. Fortunately, AmShield has discounts that can help make the cost of insuring your young driver more affordable. Discounts do vary by policy, so please check with your AmShield agent to see which discounts apply to you.
Companion Policy Discount
If you have a homeowner’s policy with AmShield and you insure your cars (or your teen’s car) with AmShield too, you could qualify for our companion policy discount.
Multiple Vehicle Discount
Insuring all of your family cars, including one you may purchase for your teen, may qualify you for a multiple-vehicle discount.
Advanced Purchase Discount
If you’re a new AmShield customer, you’ve had insurance with a different company and your application is submitted seven or more days before your first policy date, this discount may apply to you.
Pay-in-Full Discount
Paying in full has its perks—in the form of a discount. If you have a 6 or 12-month policy and pay your premium in full instead of monthly, this discount could apply to you.
Youthful Operator Away at School Discount
If your teen driver normally drives your car, but they won’t have a car when they leave for college, you might want to keep them on your policy so they can drive when they are home. If your student attends school more than 100 miles away from home and won’t have access to your car, this discount may apply.
Vehicles Equipped with Anti-Theft Devices Discount
This is pretty self-explanatory, but if the vehicle your teen drives has an anti-theft device ask about this discount.
With clearer picture of how to save money on your teen driver’s auto insurance, you can relax and put the focus on helping them gain experience on the road and practice safe driving skills.
