Jeff Makiri
AmShield Insurance® underwriters pride themselves on providing exceptional service to our agents. Since you talk to them frequently, we thought you might like to know a little about who’s you’re talking to on the other end of the line.
This month we are featuring Underwriter Jeff Makiri. Here are a few questions we asked Jeff, as well as his answers.
Tell us about your career, background and family:
I’ve worked in the insurance industry ever since I finished college. I have 8 years of experience as a claims adjuster, 12 years of experience as an insurance agent, 5 years of experience working in the health insurance industry, and 3 years of experience as a field training instructor where I was responsible for providing training to both new and veteran insurance agents.
I grew up in southern California and Arizona. I attended college at the University of Arizona in Tucson where I met my wife Deborah, and we have 3 grown children. Our son lives in Gilbert, AZ and our daughters live near us in Las Vegas, NV. We also have 3 grandchildren who are 6, 4 and 1.
What is your “super power”?
I have the ability to recall things I’ve seen or read only one time. This is especially true of numbers, dates and historical facts.
First concert you ever went to?
The first concert I ever went to was a Kenny Rogers concert in Tucson, AZ. There were two warm-up bands which were The Gatlin Brothers and Sawyer Brown, just after they became famous on Star Search.
What’s a hobby you have?
I love spending time with our grandkids whenever I can. I love going to the beach which is only a 4 ½ hour drive from Las Vegas. I also love going to see new movies on the big screen any chance I get. I love going to karaoke and listening to all the talented singers.
